• Grade 12 certificate or NQF Level 4 equivalent qualification.
• Between three and four years of practical experience working in a Security Control Room as an active Control Room Operator.
• Valid PSIRA Grade C registration.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Control Room Operator will play an important role in ensuring the effective operation of PSiRA’s security control centre.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitor CCTV cameras and surveillance equipment around the facility.
• Observe live camera feeds and identify suspicious activities.
• Monitor electric fencing, security gates, perimeter alarms, lighting systems and access control points.
• Operate fire detection and emergency alarm systems.
• Respond quickly to emergencies by communicating with security officers and emergency services.
• Operate radios, telephones, intercoms and computer communication systems.
• Maintain continuous communication with security personnel on duty.
• Record all security incidents accurately.
• Prepare detailed incident reports.
• Assist with internal investigations by retrieving CCTV footage.
• Provide authorised evidence packs to SAPS and other approved authorities.
• Conduct quarterly CCTV and surveillance system audits.
• Ensure proper handover between shifts.
• Maintain security occurrence books and operational registers.
• Monitor service provider performance during shifts.
