Purpose of the Position

The Security Guard will be responsible for protecting Orion Group’s retail premises by preventing criminal activities, monitoring access to the property, safeguarding company assets, and ensuring the safety of employees, tenants, visitors, and customers.

The successful candidate will also assist in maintaining order, reporting incidents, and supporting management in implementing effective security procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Protecting company property and assets.
• Conducting regular patrols of the premises.
• Monitoring access and exit points.
• Verifying visitor and contractor access.
• Preventing theft, vandalism, and unauthorised entry.
• Responding promptly to alarms and security incidents.
• Monitoring CCTV systems where applicable.
• Reporting suspicious activities immediately.
• Completing daily occurrence books and incident reports.
• Enforcing company security procedures.
• Assisting customers and visitors when required.
• Maintaining a professional and visible security presence.
• Working closely with management during emergencies.
• Conducting opening and closing security procedures.
• Reporting maintenance and safety hazards.
• Supporting loss prevention initiatives within the retail environment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric) will be advantageous.
• Valid PSIRA Grade C registration.
• Minimum of 3 years’ retail security experience.
• Previous experience working in shopping centres, retail stores, or commercial properties.
• Good communication skills.
• Professional appearance and conduct.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays if required.
• Immediate availability will be advantageous.
