The University of South Africa (UNISA) has confirmed that applications for undergraduate qualifications for the 2027 academic year will open on 17 August 2026 and close on 9 October 2026.
Prospective students who want to start an undergraduate qualification at UNISA in 2027 should use this application period to submit their applications online.
UNISA advises applicants to make sure they meet the admission requirements for their chosen qualification and have all the necessary supporting documents ready before starting the application process.
UNISA Undergraduate Application Dates 2027
Opening date: 17 August 2026
Closing date: 9 October 2026
Study level: Undergraduate qualifications
Academic year: 2027
Application method: Online
All undergraduate applications must be submitted during the prescribed application period. Applicants should not wait until the final day because incomplete applications or missing supporting documents can affect the processing of an application.
Who Can Apply?
The application period is open to prospective undergraduate students, including learners who will complete Grade 12 in 2026 and want to begin their studies at UNISA in 2027.
Applicants must still meet the specific statutory and academic admission requirements for the qualification they choose. Admission is not automatic and depends on meeting the requirements as well as the availability of space.
How Many Qualifications Can You Apply For?
UNISA allows applicants to apply for a maximum of three qualifications.
However, submitting applications for three qualifications does not guarantee that you will be offered a place. UNISA considers factors such as whether you meet the admission requirements, your minimum points score and the number of spaces available for the qualification.
UNISA Application Fee
The current application fee for an online undergraduate application is R160.
Applicants should first obtain their UNISA student number and then pay the application fee using the official payment instructions provided by the university.
The application fee is non-refundable, including if an applicant decides not to study at UNISA, does not meet the admission requirements, or cannot be offered a place because of limited spaces.
