Security Officer Job Opportunity in Gauteng

The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for a Security Officer position at Jubilee District Hospital. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing security operations, conducting risk assessments, supervising security personnel, and ensuring compliance with government security policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or equivalent qualification.
  • National Diploma in Security Management (NQF Level 6).
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a security environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience.
  • Valid PSIRA Grade A Certificate (new PSIRA certificate required).
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge and Competencies

Candidates should have knowledge of:

  • Threat and Risk Assessments
  • Disaster Management and Emergency Planning
  • Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
  • Minimum Physical Security Standards (MPSS)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Fire Prevention and Firearm Control Regulations
  • Protection of Information legislation
  • Security service provider management

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting security awareness and training campaigns.
  • Managing security incidents and investigations.
  • Supervising private security service providers.
  • Conducting quarterly threat and risk assessments.
  • Issuing and managing security access cards.
  • Monitoring and supervising the control room.
  • Identifying security threats and recommending improvements.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of security policies and procedures.
  • Performing general supervisory and administrative duties.
